Plant of the Sun. Of magic and fire.
Working with confidence, courage, creativity, positive self-worth, and the valuing of self.
A plant whose flowers go from yellow to turning miraculously red when soaked.
Literally a sunshine plant, St John’s wort brings smiles where there were none, eases burns and sunburn, and releases the fiery pain that can be held in the nervous system. Some say Joan had more to do with fire than John ever did, and call the plant St Joan’s wort.
A wonderful plant that works with the electrical field of the Earth’s grid to bring restorative balance. It also works with our own “electrics”, our nervous systems, in a similar way, helping to release and free us from old, outdated conditioning.
A plant of good fortune. It is said that if you sleep with the plant under your pillow, you will dream of your future lover or partner.
Like the Sun, St Joan’s wort regulates our sleeping and waking cycles, helping to balance and restore melatonin levels. Used as a travelling tonic, St John’s wort can help prevent jet lag in this way.
St John’s wort flowers emerge in mid summer, around December 21st in the Southern Hemisphere and June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere, on the longest day of the year, the time with the most Sun.
Reminding us too that we are also the Sun, the courage, and the light.
